Editor’s note: We encourage you to get to know the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC). Below is content from their website “About” page.
Founded in 1972, the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) is the longest-operating business growth engine dedicated to expanding opportunities for historically underutilized entrepreneurs. Our impact extends well beyond supply chain development. It’s about fostering upward mobility, broadening participation in the American free-market system, and ensuring fair access to the tools of economic success. Our mission is to help level the playing field by opening doors to wealth-building opportunities for those who have traditionally faced barriers.
We foster impactful connections between NMSDC-certified MBEs and our network of corporate partners, government agencies, and other enterprises. These strategic relationships drive innovation, accelerate business growth, and enhance the strength, agility, and reliability of supply chains across industries.
Our Vision
To be the leading organization driving economic advancement and long-term financial success in underutilized communities across the country with a bold, measurable goal of generating $1 trillion in economic impact through our initiatives and partnerships.
We empower businesses through targeted programs and educational resources designed to strengthen capabilities, support sustainable growth, and contribute to a more prosperous and connected society for future generations.
Our Impact
For well over fifty years, NMSDC has championed opportunities for business owners from underutilized communities across the country.
Our track record is unmatched: more than 16,000 businesses connected with over 1,700 corporations, generating $548.2 billion in annual economic output, supporting 2 million jobs, and contributing $149.6 billion in total wages. We are the nation’s largest and most effective nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing business success, demonstrating that when businesses grow, the economy grows with them.
Our Core Values
We uphold the following core values:
Our Network
NMSDC is supported by 23 regional affiliates and many strategic partners nationwide which work in the field to ensure our 16,000+ certified businesses reach their full potential with our 1,700+ corporate members.
Additionally, NMSDC expands our network overseas through the Global-Link International Program. We work with nongovernmental organizations in other countries to replicate the NMSDC model and link historically underutilized populations with corporate purchasing entities to create mutually-beneficial economic partnerships.
These international partner organizations are a gateway for United States-based businesses to meet international businesses who may be potential partners to help them gain access to the global marketplace.
