Editor’s note: We encourage you to get to know the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC). Below is content from their website “About” page.

Founded in 1972, the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) is the longest-operating business growth engine dedicated to expanding opportunities for historically underutilized entrepreneurs. Our impact extends well beyond supply chain development. It’s about fostering upward mobility, broadening participation in the American free-market system, and ensuring fair access to the tools of economic success. Our mission is to help level the playing field by opening doors to wealth-building opportunities for those who have traditionally faced barriers.

Our Core Values

We uphold the following core values:
  • We institute creative problem-solving techniques to ensure every perspective and option has been considered before moving forward with a solution and to drive excellence.
  • We believe in thoughtful collaboration, understanding that every action we take, either solo or as a collective, impacts the rest of the NMSDC team and the NMSDC Network.
  • As we ask our businesses to adapt to the ever-changing economic landscape, we too must remain adaptable to ensure we meet the needs of our stakeholders at every turn.
  • To grow and connect businesses, we must be future-focused, not only understanding the landscape of today but where that landscape may shift in another five to ten years.
  • We must remain steadfast and resilient to ensure we can continue to support businesses when and where they need us.
Our Network

NMSDC is supported by 23 regional affiliates and many strategic partners nationwide which work in the field to ensure our 16,000+ certified businesses reach their full potential with our 1,700+ corporate members.

Additionally, NMSDC expands our network overseas through the Global-Link International Program. We work with nongovernmental organizations in other countries to replicate the NMSDC model and link historically underutilized populations with corporate purchasing entities to create mutually-beneficial economic partnerships.

These international partner organizations are a gateway for United States-based businesses to meet international businesses who may be potential partners to help them gain access to the global marketplace.
