My goal as a Chef is to show this city that although there are many who make it out and seem to forget about New Orleans,

there are in fact lots of successful people who have made it out and still invest their time money and love into this city! You just don’t hear about it. People like Luke James, Anthony Mackie, PJ Morton, Jason Williams, Kermit Ruffins, Wendell Pierce. Just regular people from the same neighborhoods we grew up in, who made a way for themselves out of this city and still find their way back to where the heart is.

“It’s always oh! Look at that movie star or musician he’s from New Orleans” and that’s it. People tend to assume that they never invest in the city or try to help create more programs for our youth to keep them off the streets and out of trouble.

I want to prove to people that it’s farther from the truth. People still care. The fact that they’re from this city, a place so rich in culture is what makes them unique. Despite the odds, they had the determination and heart to make it out of Nola alive, were losing our own everyday, but were still fighting to provide a better future for us all. We can work together to get the job done and get these kids the support they need from the people they look up to the most.

I wish express my gratitude by showcasing my own talents as a NoLa Chef born and raised. I use my cooking as a way to bring friends and family together. Some of my best memories of family and friends were at the dinner table surrounded by love and laughter, I always want others to remember that no matter how successful you become and how far away from home it may take you, that you can always come back home to a meal prepared with warmth and love.

Our roots begin here and many have paved the way for those roots to grow far beyond the reaches of the Mississippi! Cooking is more than throwing ingredients into a pot and attempting to make it edible! Cooking is love, it’s passion. I want people to see, smell and feel all of this when they taste my food. I want them to taste the love. Cooking for others is my way of saying thank you for making it out and giving back! Thank you for not forgetting about us and always keeping this city and it’s people in your hearts.
